Please tell our readers about your key roles and responsibilities.
As a HR professional, my primary responsibilities revolve around four key areas. Firstly, I actively participate in business operation reviews to gain insights into various fields like business and organization development. This enables me to collaborate with the executive team in devising talent strategies. Secondly, I ensure alignment between our business goals and performance indicators through a comprehensive and motivating performance scheme that involves daily and monthly reviews.
Thirdly, I prioritize building leadership skills and fostering trust within our teams. This entails spending one-on-one time with team members and establishing effective communication channels to address challenges and people-related issues. Communication comprises a significant portion of my daily activities and communication always echo to the business.
Lastly, caring for our people is utmost importance. I focus on enhancing employee experience throughout their entire journey, from onboarding to ongoing engagement. By leveraging digitalization, we strive to provide better employee satisfaction and increase engagement levels.
In the face of the pandemic and other crises, I recognize that business is an infinite game with unclear rules. As an HR professional, I adapt to various challenges, including remote work, globalization impacts, succession planning, diversity and inclusion initiatives, cross-generation workforce management, employer branding, and employee engagement strategies.
“By leveraging digitalization, we strive to provide better employee satisfaction and increase engagement levels”
To navigate these challenges, our HR team prioritizes staying informed and proactive. We aim to create compelling internal and external narratives and ensure that our executives make impactful decisions. Communication remains a crucial aspect, with a focus on tailored and frequent communication methods such as videos, meetings, designed activities, and experiential learning to effectively engage with employees.
What are some of the recent trends and challenges that you have noticed in the industry?
Firstly, there is a growing recognition that to provide better employee well-being and benefits, organizations need to focus on becoming high-performance organizations. This entails creating credibility and trust to improve employee engagement. Leadership teams play a crucial role in inspiring a trusting environment, establishing a clear vision, and executing strategies step by step. By placing the right individuals in the right positions and emphasizing transparent communication and information sharing, employees feel a sense of trust, meaningfulness in their work, and recognition of their value.
Additionally, there is a trend towards prioritizing employee engagement as a means to improve performance. Organizations strive to achieve high-performance results, which in turn provide more resources to enhance employee conditions. A key challenge lies in balancing profitability and employee well-being, and HR professionals play a crucial role in finding the right equilibriumbetween organizations productivity and employee engagement.
In recent years, I have personally worked on building relationships with the executive team in a new company, while also leading a mature HR team. Through these efforts, we have achieved significant milestones such as winning HR ASIA Taiwan and China the Best Employee Award and receiving recognition for our commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices. Both internal employee engagement and external employer branding are essential aspects of HR's focus, with an emphasis on continuous improvement based on employee feedback and creating a positive employee experience journey from onboarding to retention.
What will be your advise for your peers in the industry?
My advice for my peers in the industry would be to prioritize aligning their business strategy and direction, considering the constant challenges and limited resources. It is crucial to establish a common goal among the CEO, CFO, and CHRO to transform the company into a high-performance organization. By investing time in aligning targets and regularly reviewing progress, you can focus resources on the top five objectives for each quarter. This alignment will enable you to identify the necessary talent and leadership to drive initiatives and achieve these goals. Ultimately, I believe that aligning with business leaders, particularly the CEO and CFO, is of utmost importance.
